Esslemont & MacIntosh (E&Ms) was a favourite destination for generations of Aberdonians and was founded in 1873 when two rival traders decided to combine their operations into a single store. Well known for being one of the finest department stores in the cities history, the building was transformed in 2019 into a unique two-part dining experience with ‘The Esslemont’ situated on the ground floor and ‘Mac’s Pizzeria’ on the upper. Taking inspiration from the buildings heritage, The Esslemont tips its hat to its historic fashion & tailoring roots within its interior to create a stylish setting which is perfect for good times in the heart of the city centre.
We were delighted to be appointed to create their new brand identity, collateral and website to coincide and complement the extensive refurbishment. We created an elegant brand for The Esslemont which includes countless subtle nods towards the building's department store heritage. Since opening, the Restaurant & Bar has quickly become one of the most popular establishments in the City. A sumptuous menu is served in the opulent surroundings making this venue another revered addition to the McGinty's Group portfolio and one we are very proud to be associated with.
